Your Biggest Tights Problems — Solved

Finding the right pair of tights can be a challenge – especially as there are so many to choose from.  For years’ the perfect pair of tights eluded me, and being shorter than average didn’t help.  Over the years, talking to other women I realised that this was a universal problem.  Searching for the solution resulted in the founding of Divine Legs – where comfort and fit in hosiery is guaranteed.

Here’s some help to avoid the biggest hosiery headaches.

Problem #1: The waistband rolls down.

A rolling waist band is generally because you are wearing the wrong size.  Sizing charts are estimates and can often not allow for different body shapes.

Solution: A rolling waistband rolling can be solved by going a size up – this is especially true if you are between two different sizes.

Divine Legs hosiery is accurately sized with the Easy Line range based on dress size and coping with leg lengths for people up to 6’4”.  Seamless tights are the worlds most comfortable hosiery.  The seamless range is sized based on height and weight.  The 60 denier opaque are very soft and stretchy – perfect for long legs and suitable or free style dancing as well as day to day wear.

Problem #2: You're always getting ladders.

We've all been there: You put on a pair of new tights only to notice an aggravating rip hours later — or maybe even before you get them on completely.

Solution: Whilst thicker tights are much sturdier, you might be looking for a sheer pair. 20 denier sheers at Divine Legs are ladder resistant and last longer than your normal tights and stay-ups.

Putting them on with care helps to avoid further damage. Remove jewellery and moisturise your hands and feet before putting your tights on.

Problem #3: Your legs are always freezing.

Sheer tights will keep some warmth in your legs (certainly more than bare legs) but they will do little to keep a bitter wind at bay.

Solution: As the weather gets colder, windier and wetter best chance of staying warm is with a higher denier. For extremes of weather there are fleece-lined tights to give extra warmth.  English winters tend not to be too intemperate, so unless you are spending long periods of time outside, semi-opaque and opaque tights in 50 denier to 70 denier will guard you against freezing legs.

With 50 denier semi opaque and 60 denier and 70 denier opaque, Divine Legs ultra-comfortable and perfect fit tights, you will never need to suffer cold legs again.

Problem #4: Finding the right colour and opacity

In their packaging, it's not always obvious how dense the colour will be on your legs.

Solution: The denier of the tights is a good indicator of the thickness and is a guide to how they will look on your legs.  Under 30 denier is sheer, between 30 and 70 denier is opaque, and over 70 denier is super opaque.

Problem #5: Its not clear which way is front.

One of the biggest complaints from consumer testers is not being able to distinguish the front from the back on a pair of tights.  Even once they have been washed, the first wear will have shaped them at least a little.

Solution: If there is no indication of front and back, check the shape of the foot. If the tights and stay-ups are straight leg tubes, look to see if there's a long seam that sticks out higher in the back of the waistband, which indicates that it's the back. If you still can't tell, it means there's no difference and the tights can be worn either way.  It is worth putting a small marker (a mall knot of coloured cotton thread) in the back so that once they have been washed you can know which way round for the future.

Divine Legs Easy Line range of tights and stay-ups have shaped feet, ankles and calves as well as a gently shaping body in the tights and the extra benefit of an invisible “bottom” lift effect.  This makes it very clear which way is the front.  The seamless range has shaped legs for the 10 denier tights.
