Are Compression Tights the Secret to Better Legs

old fashioned compression tights

Mention Compression Tights to most people and it brings to mind thick, unattractive surgical stockings warn by ladies of a certain age (and for me, makes me think of Les Dawson!)

Generally, they aren’t for people like US, they are for people with circulation problems wear to keep blood from settling in the calves. But in recent years, a more modern approach to leg wear products (including socks, leggings, and hip-to-toe stockings) has hit the market and found a place in the underwear drawers of the jet set, the fitness-obsessed, and those with a long-range approach to anti-aging.

 anti cellulite tights

Not just for the exercise mad, endurance focused or extreme sports enthusiasts where compression tights are recognised to help with recovery and stabilisation of the joints.  Ath-leisure companies like Nike, Adidas, Lucas Hugh are jumping on the band wagon and offering these high-tech fabrics in fashion forward colours and patterns.

And for those of us who measure their activity in commuting steps, there’s high-performance every day leg wear like Anti Cellulite Beauty Tights, which I tested on a 22-hour journey to the Far East – not a puffy ankle in sight and amazingly comfortable at the same time. Fitted from the ankle to the hip, they help keep feet from swelling between take-off and landing.  The compression helps with the recirculation of blood, so you arrive feeling light on your feet rather than heavy and swollen in your legs.  For purely aesthetic reasons, if you want your legs to stay vein-free, then you would definitely want to wear compression tights when you fly.  The additional benefit is that they look like normal opaque tights and eliminate cellulite while you are wearing them thanks to some clever science.

easy line beauty balm tights

For a more gently compression there are Easy Line tights and Stay-Ups which also offer the additional benefit of a beauty balm effect (covering small blemishes and smoothing out skin tone without adding density).  The compression in these tights is much more gentle but still has the effect of preventing varicose veins.

Compression tights will energise your legs and whether you are on your feet all day or sat down (both of which have an impact of your legs), the new developments in compression wear are a lot more fashionable, comfortable and desirable than their earlier counterparts.
